We're back, finally!
After a long silence, we're finally back to bother the whole world. Posted in: #announcements, #FediBlog
Goodbye, WordPress
We've left the WordPress content management system after a long reflection period (from autumn 2024 onwards), for both technical reasons and corporate policy, because WordPress's founder has been acting with little transparency towards the community of individuals and businesses who, over more than twenty years, helped this platform spread to the point of powering almost 43% of all websites.
Since 2021, when we adopted WordPress as our long-term content management system, it brought us big satisfactions and let us meet many people, so we don't regret any of it. But because of the new policies of WordPress's creator, we stopped writing new content quite a while ago: how can you publish anything new when you don't know whether you'll still be on the same website tomorrow?
New platform: focusing on text only
Our new content management system is text-only and it's called WriteFreely. We have no comments or “likes”, no search and no contact forms. We just want to write, and we're fine with that, even though we miss some design features, like publishing pages that show only specific content, such as “fantasy” and “real world”, or having a piece of text that appears automatically on every page, which is useful for a license or a disclaimer. Oh well. We'll get over it. Besides, we can hardly believe it: being able to focus only on writing feels like heaven! We'll admit that from late 2025 to mid-2026 we wasted a huge amount of energy deleting spam comments!
How to reach us?
Does no comments mean losing the community? Not really: we're trying to build a new one, and we'll take this chance to share our Mastodon contact for anyone who really wants to talk to us: @plusbrothers@mastodon.uno – both for Italian and English speaking folks. Elettrona and Gifter
